  1.                  THE AMIGA AMATEUR RADIO USER GROUP

  4. 1. The U.K. Group was started by G3LMH in May 1988 following the setting
  5.  up of the original Group in the U.S.A. by Kathy Wehr, WB3KRN.  Similar
  6.  Groups are being set up in Germany, Italy, Australia and elswhere.

  8. 2. One of the most important objects of these Groups is to ensure that
  9.  information related to amateur radio applications for the Amiga is
  10.  rapidly disseminated.  This is achieved by the exchange of newsletters
  11.  and PD disks and in QSOs on the air, including Amiga Nets.

  13. 3. We aim to promote the use of the Amiga for amateur radio applications
  14.  and to assist one another to deal with problems.  There is a wide
  15.  spectrum of expertise within the Group ranging from beginners to
  16.  professional programmers.

  18. 4. The U.K. and U.S. Newsletters are published about four times per year
  19.  but there are no specific publication dates; we prefer to wait until
  20.  there is sufficient worthwhile material rather than to stick to a rigid
  21.  timetable.  Contributions (to G3LMH please) for the U.K. Newsletter are
  22.  always welcome and need not be confined to amateur radio related
  23.  matters; few members use their Amigas exclusively for amateur radio!

  25. 5. Charlie Morgan, G0EIW deals with duplication and distribution of
  26.  newsletters.  Members should ensure that they have a minimum of one SAE
  27.  (preferably 9" x 6") with Charlie at all times.  Alternatively, Charlie
  28.  will send four newsletter packages for one pound.  If you prefer this
  29.  arrangement, please let him know.

  31. 6. Three PD disks were produced by Kathy's Group in the U.S. during 1988
  32.  and three more were issued in January 1989.  The U.K. Group has also
  33.  collected together a number of terminal programs, satellite tracking
  34.  programs, a demo of a logging program and a disk of useful utilities.
  35.  We also have some Italian PD software.  It is hoped that in future, more
  36.  PD programs will be originated in Europe.  Andy Hewat, G8NTH deals with
  37.  PD disk duplication and distribution for the U.K.; send him blank disks
  38.  and return postage if you would like copies.

  40. 7. All members of the U.K. Group are listed on the database which is
  41.  regularly updated by G3LMH.  Membership now exceeds 100 and is growing
  42.  with the continuing popularity of the Amiga.  Your co-operation is
  43.  requested in notifying your details or amendments promptly so as to
  44.  ensure that the database listing is as comprehensive and useful as
  45.  possible to all members, both old and new.  The database details include
  46.  name, address, callsign, telephone number, packet mailbox, type of Amiga
  47.  and TNC and principal interests.  Copies of the latest issue of the
  48.  database can be obtained at any time by sending an SAE to G3LMH.

  50. 8. There is no subscription for membership of the U.K. Group.  All we
  51.  ask is that members always ensure that they send sufficient return
  52.  postage when corresponding with other members (when a reply is
  53.  expected).

  55. 9. Members are asked to publicise the existence of our Group whenever
  56.  and wherever they can.  It is surprising how many `Help!' messages
  57.  still appear on PBBSs from new Amiga owners who seem to think that they
  58.  may be the first or only ones in the world wanting to use their machine
  59.  for amateur radio.....
